The Silverado Skyhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Rancho Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverado is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Silverado posted their biggest win since November 25, 2023 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Doral Academy Red Rock 55-10 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-3.
Kingsley Jones was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Christina Stowers was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Even though Rancho has not done well against Green Valley recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rancho walked away with a 53-41 victory over Green Valley. The victory was just what Rancho needed coming off of a 64-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Rancho relied on the efforts of Taylor Dagons, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Claudia Vargas-Arellano, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Dagons pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Crystal Padilla, who scored five points.
Silverado's record is now 5-11. As for Rancho, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Silverado have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Rancho, though, as they've been averaging only 34.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Silverado came up short against Rancho in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 43-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dagons, who scored 21 points. Now that Silverado knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
