The Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 67-44 defeat at the hands of La Crescent. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wabasha-Kellogg has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Ileana DeAngel and Brielle Adams certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. DeAngel dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Adams scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 54.5% of Wabasha-Kellogg's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kylee Metcalf, who scored four points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Wabasha-Kellogg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of nine games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Wabasha-Kellogg bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for La Crescent, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season.
Wabasha-Kellogg will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cotter at 7:15 p.m. Cotter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 799 points over their last 12 games. La Crescent on the road again on Thursday and play against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 7:15 p.m. on January 18th.
