The Berry Wildcats and the Holy Spirit Catholic Saints squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Berry Wildcats had to settle for second. They took a hard 52-37 fall against the Saints. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Berry in their matchups with Holy Spirit Catholic: they've now lost five in a row.
Berry lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rylee Hill, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Hill hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Maggie Mauldin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Berry has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Holy Spirit Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
Berry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-29 loss vs. Calhoun on the 10th. Holy Spirit Catholic has also already played their next contest, a 51-41 loss against Autaugaville on the 9th.
