If the Omaha Northwest Huskies were riding high off their 91-59 takedown of the South Sioux City Cardinals last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Omaha Northwest ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-59 walloping at the hands of Bryan on Friday. Omaha Northwest has struggled against Bryan recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dontae McDowell, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Chiok John, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Bryan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was A'mare Bynum out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Bynum hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Brandon Jarmon was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Omaha Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Bryan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Omaha Northwest will be playing at home against Grand Island on Saturday. Grand Island is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Bryan, they will head out on the road to take on Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Friday.
