The Spring Lions came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dekaney 68-22 at home. Given Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Dekaney is ranked 1235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring to victory, but perhaps none more so than Za'Kenya Thompson, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayah Masters, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Spring is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Dekaney, they are on a 22-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring will take on Aldine at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aldine is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Dekaney, they will be playing at home against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
