The Shorecrest Prep Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 58-2 loss at the hands of Gulf. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shorecrest Prep has scored all season.
Gulf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kristin Erstentine, who scored 13 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Erstentine has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tazaria Bankston, who scored two points along with 13 steals and eight rebounds.
Shorecrest Prep dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.4 points per game. As for Gulf, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season.
Shorecrest Prep and the Mustangs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gulf is on the road again on Monday and plays the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th. Zephyrhills and the Buccaneers are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
