The Chapman Panthers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 70-23 loss at the hands of Blue Ridge. While losing is never fun, Chapman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Blue Ridge is ranked 28th).
Despite the defeat, Chapman had strong showings from Kara Twitty, who scored ten points, and Grace Mcdaniel, who scored two points along with two steals.
Blue Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anyah Henderson out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 assists. Henderson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Josie Harkins was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Chapman's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Blue Ridge, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Chapman will head out on the road to take on Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Broome focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Blue Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Travelers Rest at 6:00 p.m.
