Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt's tournament run continued when they took on Claremont on Monday. The Rough Riders fell 62-54 to the Wolfpack.

Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Cobi Posas, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Posas' ninth in a row with at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Anthone Whitfield, who posted 13 points and four steals.

Claremont was led to victory by Elijah Jenkins and Nolan Zitar. Jenkins put up 11 points and eight steals, while Zitar almost dropped a triple-double with ten points, nine boards, and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Zitar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Mahri Smith, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Claremont, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Roosevelt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-43 loss against Liberty on the 30th. As for Claremont, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-50 win against South on the 30th.
