The Alexander Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Medina Valley Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Alexander is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over Del Rio on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ellie Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Mia Rubio was a standout: she scored four runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Jazmine Rodriguez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one double.
Alexander kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, while Medina Valley put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Laredo LBJ. Everything went Medina Valley's way against Laredo LBJ as Medina Valley made off with a 15-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Alyssa Montez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Montez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Kynlee Crisp was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Morgan Castiglione, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Medina Valley now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Alexander, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alexander hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Medina Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexander couldn't quite finish off Medina Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Alexander avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
