Prospect Ridge Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Kent Denver is ranked 50th).
Prospect Ridge Academy won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 43-19 walloping at the hands of St. Mary's Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Prospect Ridge Academy has suffered against St. Mary's Academy since February 9, 2018.
Despite the loss, Prospect Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Amelia Waggoner scored nine points along with 17 rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Waggoner pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kent Denver was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 40-34 to Peak to Peak. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kent Denver has scored all season.
Prospect Ridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Kent Denver, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.
Prospect Ridge Academy lost to Kent Denver on the road by a decisive 53-34 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Prospect Ridge Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
