Softball Recap: Waterloo Comes Up Short

Waterloo dropped their record down to 7-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Springfield Tigers, falling 12-6. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 13-9.

As for Springfield, the victory got them back to even at 9-9. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12th (when they won 15-6).

For Springfield's part, Gina Romeo was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Those four hits gave Romeo a new career-high. Audrina Koscelansky also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Coming up, Waterloo will challenge Mineral Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Springfield, they will square off against Girard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
