Horizon Honors 7-2,
Mesa Prep 15-10,
Phoenix Country Day 7-3 and
Canyon State Academy 16-0.
The MONSOONS made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from 16th to fifth place in IV Section III thanks to a 2-2 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile,
Chandler Prep fell hardest in the standings, dropping from sixth all the way to tenth place after going 1-4 in the past week.
Gilbert Classical Academy (1-0, 1-0) is now in first place.
Phoenix Christian's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing three hits and two walks to lead the league in both categories.
Phoenix Country Day led the league with 33 runs scored this week, but the Cougars still hold the season lead with 45 runs.
Austin Green's 1.000 batting average (3-for-3) for Phoenix Christian was the best in the league this week. He's batting .400 on the year, which puts him at 33rd in the league. Green has accumulated four base knocks this year so far.
Alex Sylvester was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during Phoenix Country Day's 13-3 win over
Paradise Honors. He went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.
The Cougars'
Paul Vinke threw five shutout innings in a 10-0 win over
Cortez on Thursday. He struck out ten, allowing three hits.
