Baseball Game Preview: Covenant Academy Rams vs. John Hancock Academy Rebels

The Covenant Academy Rams will venture away from home to face off against the John Hancock Academy Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Covenant Academy came out on top against Windsor Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run seventh inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Asa Wood was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Ethan Mills was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Covenant Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .489. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor Academy only posted a batting average of .333.

Meanwhile, John Hancock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Westminster Christian Academy.

John Hancock Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Letson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Covenant Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for John Hancock Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Covenant Academy took their victory against John Hancock Academy in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
