The Branchville Yellow Jackets were the 60-51 winner over the North Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Branchville fell 71-59 to North on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Branchville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kizer Glover, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Felder, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds.
North was led to victory by A Calloway and S Stacks. Calloway scored 20 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while Stacks scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The contest was Stacks' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of K Strobert, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Branchville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for North, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Branchville will head out on the road to face off against Lake Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lake Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday. As for North, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fairfield Central at 7:30 p.m.
