After eight games on the road, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is heading back home. They will take on the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' game on Saturday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of William Penn Charter.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' defeat came about despite a quality game from Riley Jacobs, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jacobs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colin Pollock, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Riverdale Baptist is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sidwell Friends. Riverdale Baptist lost to Sidwell Friends on the road by a decisive 66-50 margin. While losing is never fun, Riverdale Baptist can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 25th in Maryland, while Sidwell Friends is ranked first in District of Columbia).
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Riverdale Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes beat Riverdale Baptist 69-61 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Will St. Stephen's & St. Agnes repeat their success, or does Riverdale Baptist have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
