Softball Recap: Oregon City's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Oregon City waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Tualatin Timberwolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 two weeks ago.

Ellie Joseph made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Funnemark, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Maggie Schneider, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Oregon City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.6.

Oregon City's record is now 9-11. As for Tualatin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

The timing is sure in the Pioneers' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Pacers have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Tualatin is set to face off against their familiar foe Lake Oswego at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
