In what's become a running theme this season, the Lowry Buckaroos gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Churchill County 76-39 at home. Lowry's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Lowry was led to victory by Britain Backus and Savannah Stoker. Backus made all 6 shots she took from beyond the arc racking up 27 points and 3 assists, while Stoker scored 28 points along with nine steals and six assists. Stoker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Bryce Brinkerhoff was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Churchill County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jada Anastasio, who scored 19 points along with four steals, and Karlie Simper who scored seven points along with four steals. Simper continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
The win was the fourth in a row for Lowry, bringing their record for this year to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Churchill County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowry will face off against Dayton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Lowry is ranked ninth). As for Churchill County, they will head out on the road to challenge Fernley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fernley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Churchill County likes a good challenge.
