Gospel Light Christian stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They really took it to Surry HomeSchool for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-35 victory at home. The victory was familiar territory for Gospel Light Christian who now have three in a row.
Gospel Light Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Drake Walker out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Creed Coleman, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Surry HomeSchool's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Spence, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Spence has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Isaiah Mauser was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Surry HomeSchool struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gospel Light Christian racked up 19 assists.
Gospel Light Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Surry HomeSchool, they dropped their record down to 14-18 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Gospel Light Christian and Union Grove Christian will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gospel Light Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Surry HomeSchool, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Alamance Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Surry HomeSchool is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
