After two games on the road, Axtell is heading back home. They will take on the Pawnee City Indians at TBD on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Axtell took a serious blow against the Mustangs, falling 59-21.
Even though Pawnee City has not done well against the Jets recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pawnee City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over the Jets. The victory was just what Pawnee City needed coming off of a 49-19 loss in their prior match.
Pawnee City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emalyse Gottula, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Blecha, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Axtell's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Pawnee City, their win bumped their record up to 2-15.
Axtell beat the Indians 38-29 in their previous matchup back in February of 2018. Does Axtell have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
