Seneca is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Allentown is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Seneca Golden Eagles will take on the Allentown Redbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Seneca humbled Northern Burlington with a 41-14 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Seneca found their leader in underclassman Anthony Tirico, who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Another reason for the win was Seneca's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Kyle Stickel and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Allentown at home against Hightstown on Friday as the squad secured a 45-13 win. Given Allentown's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Hightstown is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Seneca to 7-1 and Allentown to 7-2.
