Basketball Game Preview: Barnesville Shamrocks vs. Shenandoah Zeps

Barnesville hasn't had much luck against Shenandoah recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Barnesville Shamrocks will head out to square off against the Shenandoah Zeps at 7:00 p.m. Shenandoah took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Barnesville, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Barnesville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ridgewood, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win.

It was another big night for Madelynn Tyson, who went 8 of 18 on her way to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Lydia Fuchs was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Shenandoah suffered their closest loss since January 24, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Philo by a score of 56-54.

Barnesville will need focus on slowing down Brenna Leach, one of several Shenandoah players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. Leach is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kendal Snyder, who posted ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Barnesville's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Shenandoah, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Barnesville has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Barnesville and Shenandoah were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Barnesville came up empty-handed after a 58-57 loss. Can Barnesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
