The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rock Canyon, who took down 35th ranked Rock Canyon, 42-21.
Fountain-Fort Carson extended the longest winning streak in 5A Pioneer this week by beating Palmer, 33-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Trojans.
Cameron Hacker and Anthony Davis gave Fountain-Fort Carson a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Hacker threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns, while Davis ran for 234 yards. Teammate Hacker added to the ground attack by rushing for 60 yards.
Michael Sheperd was the best wideout in the league this week as the Jaguars lost to Castle View. Sheperd racked up eight receptions for 120 yards. Brian Goldberg helped Rock Canyon's passing attack out by catching five balls for 90 yards.
Ryan Hommel provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Rock Canyon fell to the Sabercats. He completed 22 passes for 283 yards and also ran for 39 yards.
Patrick Salazar made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Terrors lost to Mitch Johnson's team. The senior forced one fumble, recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
Tom Lynch's team's Hommel and Sheperd have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hommel has thrown for 723 yards this season, while Sheperd, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 15 catches for 242 yards. The Trojans' Davis leads the league in rushing yards with 599.
A big matchup in 5A Pioneer this week will be when Heritage takes on the Jaguars. The Eagles are in fourth place, while Rock Canyon is in second place.
Castle View was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Sabercats beat the Jaguars 42-21 earlier in the week.
