If The Sabinal Yellowjackets were feeling good off their 42-3 takedown of the La Pryor Bulldogs two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sabinal fell 36-26 to D'Hanis on Saturday. Sabinal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as D'Hanis apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Sabinal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Israel Gonzales. Despite the final result, he rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Beau Beza made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Sabinal now has a losing record at 3-4. As for D'Hanis, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Center Point the next time they take the field. Sabinal will host Center Point at 0:00 a.m. on Friday, while D'Hanis will head out to face them at 0:00 a.m. on November 3rd.
