The Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Tyner Academy Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts has seven straight victories, Tyner Academy has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts made easy work of Copper Basin and carried off a 16-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Evan Henderson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Henderson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts got a massive performance out of Jackson Owens, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles were Owens' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noah Steele, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Tyner Academy's offense. They lost 8-0 to Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences on Tuesday.
Tyner Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zion Dujon, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Tyner Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, their record now sits at 8-2.
Tyner Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .565. It's a different story for Tyner Academy, though, as they've only averaged .329. Will they be able to contain Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts' hitters?
Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts took their victory against Tyner Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
