Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Mater Dei Catholic's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Mater Dei Catholic won the last time they faced Oceanside and things went their way on Saturday too. The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders took down the Oceanside Pirates 63-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Dei Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Promise Martin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Martin a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Tess Warren, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Mater Dei Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklynn Davis, who put up 12 points and eight boards. Alana Hoskins was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Mater Dei Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Oceanside, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will square off against Bonita Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Dei Catholic is facing Bonita Vista at the right time seeing as Bonita Vista is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Oceanside, they will challenge Rancho Buena Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Buena Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
