The Mountain View Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Capital Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked 25th at the time (Mountain View was ranked seventh). The Mavericks put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 13-3 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Mountain View got a great performance from Katy Jackson as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Jackson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brooke Austin was incredible, firing off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayelynn Puyleart, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Capital's offense. They came up short against Owyhee on Friday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Golden Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Mountain View's record is now 9-5. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Capital struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Capital in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
