Basketball Game Preview: Flint River Academy Wildcats vs. St. Mary's Academy Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Flint River Academy Wildcats duke it out with the St. Mary's Academy Bobcats at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday... Flint River Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

If Flint River Academy beats St. Mary's Academy with 42 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Flint River Academy skirted past Westwood 42-40.

Flint River Academy found their leader in sophomore Reagan Riner, who posted 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Carroll, who had three points and six steals.

Flint River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Academy played a tough contest last Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 44-12 loss at the hands of Dominion Christian. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-0.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Mary's Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Flint River Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Flint River Academy against St. Mary's Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 51-15 win.
