Biloxi is 4-0 against Blount since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Biloxi Indians will be home for the holidays to greet the Blount Leopards at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Biloxi comes in on five and Blount on three.
Biloxi has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 56-21 victory over Ocean Springs on the road. Given Biloxi's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Ocean Springs is ranked 210th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Biloxi to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaniya Johnson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below two blocks for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Davison, who scored eight points along with eight assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Blount at home against Baker on Saturday as the squad secured a 65-31 win.
Blount's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donniya Torrey, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Torrey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Heaven Watlington, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Biloxi pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24 points. As for Blount, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Biloxi against Blount when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 53-25 win. Will Biloxi repeat their success, or does Blount have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
