Carmel faced North Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Panthers. For the Greyhounds, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Thomas Kuehl paced Carmel's offense, picking up eight kills. Kuehl got some help from Shepard Spidel and his 26 assists. Finally, Jack Kovak kept Carmel's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

The win made it two in a row for Carmel and bumps their season record up to 7-4-1. As for North Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Carmel will face off against rival Franklin Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, North Central is set to square off against their familiar foe Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
