The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lake Travis, who took down 27th ranked Bowie, 43-0. Varshaun Nixon ran for 194 yards and caught 4 passes for 94 yards in the win.
Fans got a thrill when Dominic De Lira and Nixon connected against the Bulldogs. The longest such play in 5A Region II District 15 this season, the connection resulted in 81 yards.
The Cavaliers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. De Lira threw for 222 and 2 touchdowns and Nixon had 94 yards receiving. On the ground Nixon chipped in 194 yards. Tyler Payne helped Lake Travis' passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 56 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Del Valle's Juan Padron and Altany Wilson have proven to be a lethal combination. Padron has thrown for 967 yards this season, while Wilson, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 23 catches for 392 yards. Akins's Teddy Lowery leads the league in rushing yards with 778.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Hank Carter's team takes on the Eagles. The Cavaliers are currently in second, while Akins is in fifth.
The Cardinals scaled the state rankings by moving to 618 from 667 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 15. Del Valle was able to move up by topping Anderson 21-0.
