The Rolla Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forgan. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Rolla of the 41-25 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elena Reza, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 68.8% of Rolla's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Reza, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rolla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Rolla has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Forgan, their victory bumped their record up to 2-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rolla will take on Fellowship Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fellowship Baptist Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Rolla surely won't give up without a fight. As for Forgan, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Laverne at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
