The Lake City Panthers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Marlboro County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Lake City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Marlboro County is ranked 46th).
Lake City suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 64-42 defeat to Lakewood might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake City has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Blayne Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bryson Rose, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Marlboro County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to Andrew Jackson at home by a decisive 53-39 margin on Saturday.
Lake City's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-10. As for Marlboro County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Lake City came out on top in a nail-biter against Marlboro County in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 42-40. Will Lake City repeat their success, or does Marlboro County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
