Football Recap: Wilber-Clatonia Comes Up Short

Wilber-Clatonia dropped down to 4-5 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were beaten by the Syracuse Rockets 54-7. The Wolverines lost against the Rockets in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 45-20 score last time.

Crew Pulliam threw for 80 yards on three of ten attempts. Graysen Vlcan was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards. On the ground, Ty Roesler rushed for 48 yards.

As for Syracuse, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points over those games.

A big part of Syracuse's win came down to the chemistry between Will Janssen and his top target Mason Lintz. Janssen rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries while Lintz rushed for 235 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries. Janssen is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

Wilber-Clatonia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Syracuse, they have already played their next game, a 43-20 victory against Gross Catholic on the 31st.
