The Amundsen Vikings came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Payton College Prep 48-45. This was payback for Amundsen, who suffered a 40-35 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Amundsen to victory were Taylor Barnes and Hannah Lopez. Barnes scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Lopez scored 16 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lopez scored 15 or more points.
Amundsen is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Payton College Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Amundsen's road trip will continue as they head out to face Latin at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. As for Payton College Prep, they will square off against Resurrection at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
