The North Pemiscot Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Pemiscot comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
North Pemiscot suffered their biggest loss since November 27, 2023 last Thursday. They were beaten by Naylor 68-17.
Meanwhile, Westwood Baptist Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took down Bismarck 76-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
James Hawley and Ben Jones were among the main playmakers for Westwood Baptist Academy as the former scored 26 points along with five assists and two steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gage Barker, who scored six points along with two steals.
North Pemiscot's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.4 points per game. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
North Pemiscot was taken down by Westwood Baptist Academy 74-11 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for North Pemiscot, Jeffrey VanDover (who scored 29 points along with seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
