Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Leuzinger's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Leuzinger unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Auburn Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Olympians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 116th in California, while the Trojans are ranked third in Washington).

Loss or not, Leuzinger got some senior leadership from Malachi Knight and Joshua Garland. Knight posted 18 points, while Garland had 18 points. Knight's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jace Jones, who earned eight points.

Leuzinger's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4. As for Auburn, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Leuzinger has already played their next contest, a 54-52 loss against Millikan on the 27th. As for Auburn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-58 defeat against Vista Murrieta on the 27th.
