Bethel is 0-10 against Graham-Kapowsin since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bison will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Bethel came out on top against Spanaway Lake on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Bison came out on top against the Sentinels by a score of 8-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Sophia Hutchins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Penelope Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Claire Mauch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Graham-Kapowsin waltzed into their game on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers an 8-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Brooklyn Pettit, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Bonney Lake off the board. Pettit has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Olivia Derieg and Payton McCulloch did most of the damage at the plate: Derieg went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while McCulloch went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Derieg has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley McDaniel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Graham-Kapowsin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Bethel's record now sits at 5-11-1. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their record is now 17-1.
Bethel might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Graham-Kapowsin in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
