The team relied heavily on Liliana Garcia, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Lopez, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact: Tombstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Benson posted their closest victory since March 21st on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Desert Christian. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.
Sadie Webb was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaylei Taylor, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Tombstone's record now sits at 10-12. As for Benson, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tombstone has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .514. However, it's not like Benson struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Tombstone's way against Benson in their previous meeting back in March, as Tombstone made off with a 27-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
