Decatur is 3-0 against Kennedy Catholic since June of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Decatur Golden Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kennedy Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Decatur focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Decatur blew past Jefferson, posting a 63-28 victory at home. The win was just what Decatur needed coming off of a 59-29 loss in their prior matchup.
Decatur can attribute much of their success to Tamairah Allen, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaira Creary, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic came up short against Mount Si on Saturday and fell 46-37.
Despite the defeat, Kennedy Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Gabriela King dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kathryn Schroeder, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Decatur now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Decatur have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kennedy Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
