The Skyridge Falcons will challenge the Layton Lancers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Layton will be up against a hot Skyridge squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Skyridge walked away with a 7-3 victory over Springville on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 30, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Max Johanson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Cohen Plewe was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Rip Roberts, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Skyridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Layton came up short against Riverton on Monday, falling 12-4.
Layton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fish Manning, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Skyridge's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Layton, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Layton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Skyridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Layton, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Skyridge keep running through batters, or will Layton buck the trend?
Skyridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Layton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Does Skyridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Layton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
