With a playoff game on the line, the Salamanca Warriors rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 21-13 victory over Le Roy. The win was familiar territory for Salamanca who now have six in a row.
Le Roy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drew Strollo, who rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
Salamanca has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-2 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-3 Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central and 7-3 Southwestern (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.6% over those games). As for Le Roy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Salamanca will square off against Waverly at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Waverly will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. Le Roy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
