You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Wolfe County Wolves's strategy against the Jackson City Tigers on Friday. Wolfe County strolled past Jackson City with points to spare, taking the game 66-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wolfe County also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Wolfe County was led to victory by Caleb Creech and Corey Flinchum. Creech scored 18 points along with nine assists, while Flinchum shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Creech posted eight or more assists. Dalton Voils was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
The victory got Wolfe County back to even at 8-8. As for Jackson City, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolfe County will take on Estill County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Phelps at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Phelps knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Jackson City likes a good challenge.
