Big Rivers recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to River Falls, who took down 76th ranked River Falls, 46-35.
Rice Lake moved up to 52 from 90 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Big Rivers. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Wildcats 46-35.
Superior's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Spencer Urban threw for 118 yards and Kyle Turkowski had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Jaylon Brown chipped in 121 yards. Ben Erickson helped Superior's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Superior's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Urban has thrown for 891 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Turkowski has 20 catches for 291 yards. Brown leads the league in rushing with 330 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hudson takes on Eau Claire Memorial. The Raiders are currently in first, while the Old Abes are in sixth.
Hudson extended the longest winning streak in Big Rivers this week by beating Menomonie, 34-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for Adam Kowles' team.
