The Elgin Owls put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat MacArthur 62-14 at home. Fans of Elgin have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Lund led the charge by rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also catching a touchdown. Lund's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tres Lorah, who threw for 177 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes.
Elgin's win was their fifth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Altus and 2-8 Anadarko (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.1% over those games). As for MacArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Elgin will head out on the road to face off against Midwest City on Friday. The pair might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. As for MacArthur, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Noble at 7:00 p.m.
