If the Middleton Vikings were feeling good off their 54-22 takedown of the Highland Rams on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Middleton fell 50-43 to Blackfoot on Saturday. Middleton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Blackfoot apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Middleton saw an underclassman step up: Zoey Blackwell scored 14 points. The game was Blackwell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elsie Wyatt, who scored 15 points.
Even though they lost, Middleton were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackfoot only pulled down four.
Blackfoot's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marlee Pieper, who scored 17 points. Addison Tanner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Middleton has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Blackfoot, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Middleton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Mountain View is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Blackfoot will take on Shelley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelley's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Blackfoot's offense will have their work cut out for Blackfoot.
