Plant is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Plant City is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Plant Panthers will take on the Plant City Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two weeks ago, Plant was fully in charge, breezing past Alonso 42-6 at home. With Plant ahead 35-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Waltez Clark was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 84 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Plant City never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson 40-0 on the road. Given Plant City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Jefferson is ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chris Denson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 214 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Marshall, who gained 103 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Plant to 8-2 and Plant City to 6-4.
Everything came up roses for Plant against Plant City in their previous meeting back in October as the squad secured a 42-0 win. Will Plant repeat their success, or does Plant City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
