The Bloomfield Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the Newark Academy Minutemen at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bloomfield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Bloomfield was able to grind out a solid win over East Orange Campus, taking the game 42-35.
Meanwhile, Newark Academy lost to West Orange at home by a decisive 66-47 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Newark Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while West Orange is ranked 14th).
Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Newark Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Bloomfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-31 loss to Newark Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Bloomfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
