Alameda hasn't had much luck against Fort Morgan recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alameda has eight straight victories, Fort Morgan has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Alameda barely beat Middle Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 11-1 on Thursday. Considering the Pirates have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Alan Chairez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hudson Judy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vinny Arguello, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2.
Alameda hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middle Park struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Fort Morgan came up short against Sterling on Friday and fell 10-6.
Luis Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Fort Morgan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Chisum, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Miguel Davila was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Alameda's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Fort Morgan, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Alameda has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fort Morgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Alameda suffered a grim 27-3 defeat to Fort Morgan when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
