The Wausa Vikings won the last time they faced the Bloomfield Bees, and things went their way on Friday too. Wausa walked away with a 38-30 win over Bloomfield. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wausa.
Wausa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Schindler out in front who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Preston Schlote, who scored seven points.
Bloomfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Wiley Ziegler, who scored five points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Layne Warrior who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Warrior's ninth in a row with at least ten points.
Bloomfield struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The win got Wausa back to even at 4-4. As for Bloomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Wausa won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Boyd County at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Boyd County is ranked 179th, while Wausa is ranked 184th). Bloomfield will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Creighton at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.
