The Boca Raton Bobcats will head out to square off against the King's Academy Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Boca Raton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Atlantic Christian with a sharp 17-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on four straight.
Myah Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Emma Caverly was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Raegan Lisco was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Boca Raton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Thursday. King's Academy blew past Olympic Heights 12-0. Winning may never get old, but King's Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
King's Academy got a big performance out of Emma Thornton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracyn Needle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
King's Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Boca Raton, their record now sits at 10-4.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boca Raton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like King's Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
